The Louis Garneau Vorttice Time Trial Cycling Helmet is a true revolution in aerodynamic helmets designed to be faster than the competition. Unlike any other aero helmet, proven dimpled technology at the front of the helmets causes air to flow closely to the helmet. When hitting the “Vortex Generator” at the top of the helmet, the air is accelerated again, so it can glide along to the end of the helmet and eliminate air disturbances. Louis Garneau’s unique “air intake” situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 “evacuation channels” keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. When the cyclist is riding straight forward, the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in front of the helmet making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speed, moves around the head through internal evacuation channels and exits at the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist’s head is then wicked out through the back. Designed to improve aerodynamic performance, the Vorttice lens is ventilated and included with the helmet. The shape of the helmet, air intake system and vortex generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

Evacuation Channels - When Louis Garneau builds a helmet, they take into account airflow since the heat of the rider's head must be evacuated in order to keep a good performance. Moisture channels are designed to let the air in at the front of the helmet through to the back to efficiently keep the head cool.
Golf Ball Effect - The fore part of the helmet constantly comes into conflict with air when the rider is moving. This is why the golf-ball effect is strategically positioned on the front. It creates controlled air disturbance to limit friction onto the helmet. The textured surface on front of the helmet helps achieve better laminar airflow.
Spiderlock SL - Spiderlock SL is a helmet stabilizing device that perfectly fits in with the webbing system. Its mechanism is alike the Spiderlock Elite's, but an engineering process has been performed to reduce significantly the weight of the helmet. This way you have a very comfortable helmets with lower weight. It may be tightened around the rider's head with only one hand thanks to its rack-and-pinion mechanism. The angle can be adjusted and ergonomic foam padding allows optimum comfort at the neck area.
Vortex Generator - Small blades at the surface of the helmet create vortices that energize the laminar layer resulting in improved performance. Coming from the aeronautics industry, the Vortex generators assure an enhanced airflow, creating a vortex on top of the moving area. This technology has been made suitable for the helmet with help of a complex simulation software and significant engineering work. Combined to the golf-ball effect on the front, this technology provides an 11% improvement of the drag.

Priced competitively, this helmet is light and offers great air flow. I've used for a half-ironman and full ironman (in 85 degree heat) with no issues or concerns. Helmet is comfortable and looks cool (IMO).
