the original Giro ProLight set the standard for modern light-weight cycling
helmets. Now, 25 years later the new Giro ProLight Road Cycling Helmet redefines
what an ultra light weight helmet can be. After an exhaustive, ground-up design
and engineering process, Giro is confident that the new ProLight is the lightest
game in town. Bar none. And it’s remarkably well ventilated and comfortable too
– a labyrinth of optimized internal channels allows the helmet to exhale hot,
stale air like no other. And by specifying Italian made, feather weight webbing
along with Giro’s new, minimal Roc Loc SL fit system, you’ll have to remind
yourself that you’ve got a helmet on at all. Designing the ProLight was a true
exercise in restraint that reminded the engineers at Giro that simplicity really
is the most important element of style. And performance.
Total Weight –
Ultra light-weight race helmet
Tunnel Vents – A
cool rider is a fresh rider. Giro’s Wind Tunnel ventilation system helps keep
your head cool, a proven and important performance benefit.
Optimized Internal Channeling –
A key part of Giro’s Wind
Tunnel ventilation system, they focused a lot of attention on carving the
deepest, most effective channels possible into the ProLight. This helps exhaust
hot and stale air out of the back of the helmet.
Roc Loc SL –
incredibly comfortable. With one quick adjustment of the webbing system, Giro’s
Roc Loc SL self-adjusts to provide a comfortable, secure fit.
Roc Loc SL Fore + Aft Adjustment –
To provide an even more
precise fit Giro’s Roc Loc SL, they engineered a 3-position for/aft fit system
adjustment. This is a simple, one-time adjustment.
Webbing – Maximum
comfort and minimum weight. This new Italian-made materials is so supple that
you almost don’t even notice it against your cheek or chin. It also wicks sweat
very well and cleans up nicely.
Sizing – Giro’s
proprietary three-size Super Fit system is based on “human scale factors” data
and over 20 years of crafting helmets for the best bike riders in the world. The
result is a helmet that fits 98% of the world’s population, right out of the
Giro’s proprietary in-mold construction process fuses the helmet’s poly
carbonate shell with its impact-absorbing EPS liner during the molding process,
making the shell a structural part of the helmet. This fusion process reinforces
areas around vents and ribs, creating an ‘exoskeleton’ that allows the helmet to
be lighter, more durable, and better ventilated than traditional designs.
Padding – In
addition to being very comfortable, Giro’s X-Static pads provide anti-microbial
properties to help keep your helmet fresher, longer. The pads are also machine
